The EmBRAce Project

2017, 2020

A series of still life portraits that capture a feminine self image and what lies close to each woman's heart - hinting at her world, internally and externally. The object placed on her “heart” symbolizes what is nearest and dearest to her right then, some cheering, others challenging. A quote accompanies each photo as if it were words of wisdom the woman would like to pass along to the viewers.

Mind Slaves

2011

The best kind of slave is the one who thinks he’s free. Mind Slaves metaphorically exhibits the concept of mind control and mind programming.

Many are all familiar with the reality of visible slavery past and present. Yet many are unaware of a more sinister form of bondage: enslavement of the mind. Mind Slaves is meant to open a discussion on this disquieting nefarious enterprise.

Staying Okay…

2010

Piles. Piles of books. Piles of stuff. Piles of worries. Piles of fears. Piles piling up. Piles were the inspiration for this collection of multiple ("piled") negative darkroom prints. This creative journey was one of a kind for me, taking inspiration from the epic work of Jerry Uelsmann. These "piled" film negatives explored the negative psychological pressures that surrounded me at the time, and how I was going to climb out of them. Each original darkroom print required a lot of creative problem solving and diligent persevering effort which mirrored my own life journey.
